Privacy, your data and cookies

Online you leave traces: what you share, where you are, what you look at. With a few choices, such as for cookies and permissions, you decide for yourself what others know.

Lower secondary (grade 1)11 to 15 yearsDraft: Not yet checked by a computing teacher.

Why

You look at a pair of football boots once. After that you see adverts for football boots everywhere. How do all those websites know?

Websites remember things about you, often with small files called cookies. Some cookies are handy, others follow you from website to website.

Data about you is valuable, even to companies you have never visited. That is why it is good to know what you share, and that you are allowed to choose.
